American Society for Precision Engineering - ASPE

Welcome!

The American Society of Precision Engineering (ASPE) is rooted in the US precision machine tool industry. We are glad for this opportunity to organize parts of the technical Forum at IMTS this year.

We hope to keep emphasizing and promoting the principles of precision in a symbiotic relationship with the other forum partners and the AMT at the IMTS 2008 Manufacturing Business & Technology Forum (MBTF).

Forum Educational Description

As part of the IMTS 2008 Manufacturing Business & Technology Forum the ASPE is organizing papers on the best and most up to date research projects from the engineering development departments of the exhibiting machine tool companies. We will be offering intense short summaries of our normally half day long tutorials. As a bonus, each day will end with a debate between recognized experts in the field on important issues of the day like; hard turning vs. grinding, on machine vs. off machine inspection, the deterministic viewpoint vs. the probabilistic viewpoint. ~Drew Devitt, ASPE

American Society for Precision Engineering

The Mission of the ASPE is to advance the arts, sciences, and technology of Precision Engineering, to promote its dissemination through education and training, and its use by science and industry. Precision Engineering is a discipline encompassing the design, development, and measurement of high-accuracy components. By extension, the field also includes the design of systems in which high dimensional accuracy is a central concern, as well as the design of machine tools and measuring machines to accomplish the necessary manufacture and measurement.
