Frequently Asked Questions

IMTS FLOOR MANAGERS

Question: What are the duties of floor managers?

Floor managers are show management's representatives on the show floor. They are part of the management team representing AMT and are responsible for keeping show management fully informed on what's happening on the show floor.

To exhibitors, the floor managers are their first point of contact for questions and problems and may be called to intercede on their behalf to resolve misunderstandings with contractors, suppliers and labor. Floor managers are required to spend virtually all of their time on the show floor, making themselves as visible as possible. Contrary to some shows, AMT uses its own staff personnel as floor managers because of their familiarity with AMT membership and IMTS exhibitors. Floor managers are also required to submit comment/fact cards to the building manager for daily review and possible corrective action.

At IMTS, each building is treated as a separate show with its own show office, floor managers and building manager. The building manager is the final reporting link between the exhibitors and the show contractor, McCormick Place, Fire Marshall and the labor unions. There is a building manager and a floor manager for each building.
