Listed below are the archived "Cool Tips of the Week", which is a bi-weekly email sent by Steve Miller to IMTS Exhibitors with helpful hits on making the best of your IMTS Experience. Giveaways
Don't use giveaways that don't bring you customers! If you do decide to use giveaways in your booth, make sure you only give them out in return for the attendee's name, company, address, phone, and email address (at the very least). Be selective about the type of giveaway you use. I like to use the criteria of "ON the desk," rather than "IN the desk." Make it something that lasts past the show and not thrown away when the show is over.
Literature
Do you pass out literature at trade shows? Where does the attendee put it? In their bag with EVERYBODY ELSE'S literature! That's not standing out. Literature is expensive to print and ship. Consider not taking any at all and use that as a reason for follow-up ("I promise we'll send it to you!"). At the very least, just bring an inexpensive one-sheet about your product/service and then send the big brochure after the show (and after thoroughly qualifying the prospect).
