"Cool Tips of the Week" archived from 5/7/2008 email, which is a weekly email sent by Steve Miller to IMTS Exhibitors with quick tips, ideas, examples, advice, and just plain old good information on making the best of your IMTS Experience.
Last week I talked about how nothing happens in your booth if the right attendee doesn't STOP. So how do you get that right attendee to stop? Past surveys show that the #1 reason why attendees stop in a booth are because that vendor has a product or service they need or are interested in. It's not the giveaways and gimmicks. Sure, those attract traffic, but I've never been able cash a check with traffic. You want Quality Conversations!
The best way to get your targeted attendee to stop is to join the conversation in their mind. They have problems, challenges, and needs. How does your product or service help solve those? Make sure your signage and messaging are loudly shouting those solutions.
Keep it simple. I recently saw a great example at a material handling show. One exhibitor had a big sign on top of their exhibit that read: "If you need to read barcodes, you need to stop here." Their staffers were busy the entire show.
And BTW, have you been attending the monthly IMTS Webinars? We've been sharing a lot of great ideas for planning and promoting your success. Check out the archives of past webinars and future dates by Clicking Here.
