Advanced Manufacturing Center at IMTS 2012

BoeingSince its debut at IMTS 2008, the Advanced Manufacturing Center has brought a lot of technological eye candy to the show floor at McCormick Place. The AMC at IMTS 2012 will be no different, this time featuring a Boeing Fuel Cell Demonstrator Aircraft (FCDA), and a Lotus Formula 1 race car.

But it isn't just the "wow factor" that makes the AMC a must-visit at IMTS. With a theme of "Celebrating Advanced Manufacturing," the IMTS community can see exactly what is produced by today's most ground-breaking technology.

The Boeing FCDA is the world's first manned aircraft that utilizes fuel cells. The FCDA project is part of Boeing's effort to develop environmentally friendly technologies for aerospace applications by reducing aircraft emissions.

Lotus Formula 1The Lotus Formula 1 race car, powered by Renault (technical partnership by Boeing Research & Technology), can accelerate from 0 to 160 KPH and decelerate back to 0 in less than 4 seconds.

The Lotus F1 display vehicle that will be featured at IMTS replicates the car that will be driven by Kimi Raikkonen, one of the world's most recognized (and well-paid) athletes in this year's F1 Race of the Americas in Austin, Texas. In addition to viewing the complete F1 car, attendees will also be able to view metal and carbon fibre car components displayed by Lotus.

VirtalisOther features: The AMC will also feature the Virtalis Virtual Reality Theater, which will allow attendees to see the power of the relationship between design, manufacture, and data — all in virtual reality. Additionally, TRAM (Trends in Advanced Machining, Manufacturing & Materials) conference attendees and presenters will participate in networking events at the AMC.
