New Technology Introductions from IMTS Exhibitors at EASTEC
In case you missed the news from IMTS 2016, AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology announced a partnership with SME to collaborate on a series of regional shows focused on the manufacturing technology industry, which included the recently-held EASTEC show held in West Springfield, Mass.
Since most visitors to EASTEC come from nearby states, we wanted to bring some of the show highlights to the rest of the IMTS community. While it might seem that the IMTS show just ended, innovation never sleeps for IMTS exhibitors.
For example, GF Machining Solutions launched the Mikron Mill P 900 3-axis vertical machining center at EASTEC. MC Machinery Systems showcased an upgraded version of the DV-1000 general-purpose machining center that features a new Mitsubishi M80 touch screen control – and they proudly announced that their IMTS 2018 exhibit space is now in the South Hall.
While machining centers, workholding and 3D printing tend to get a lot of focus, our IMTS cameras also spent plenty of time scoping out new metrology solutions at EASTEC. To capture more part features and measure them without a program, Vision International demonstrated its Fusion 400 multi-sensor measurement system, while Renishaw showed visitors how the Equator 300 shop floor gauging system calculates tool wear offset and sends information to the CNC controller so that it can compensate.
P.S. While you probably know that the other AMT/SME regional shows include HOUSTEX, WESTEC, and SOUTH-TEC events, you might not have heard about the new Smart Manufacturing Experience Boston 2018 event, which AMT and SME jointly launched at EASTEC.
