Alexandre Tadeu Simon,
Technical Editor, Maquinas e Metais Magazine
I started my career as a technical editor in 1987 after visiting EMO when I was introduced to the Maquinas e Metais magazine publisher. At that time I was working as an industrial manager in a big Brazilian company and he asked me to write an article about the show from the point of view of the customer. The article was then published, and the publisher invited me to work with him in his magazine. Of course I needed to keep my job in the company I worked for. The objective was to combine my experience as an industrial practitioner with technical writing to bring the correct information to the lectors.

My first challenge as a technical editor was to visit IMTS 1988 and write a technical report about the show named, on that time, International Machine Tool Show. Two big amazing surprises: discovering Chicago, one of the most beautiful and charming cities in the world, and visiting IMTS in McCormick Place, one of the most elegant exposition centers in the world (even though West Building didn’t exist yet). It was really a great experience and since then I’ve been in the habit of writing technical articles about the biggest manufacturing technology shows in the world.
This is the 13th IMTS I attended and even though there have been ups and downs in the world and US economy, IMTS earned a reputation for reliability and continues giving professionals a friendly climate and a productive way to improve knowledge on production processes. Throughout the years, IMTS has introduced innovations ideas and developments that have forever changed the industry.
Many world class companies have discovered IMTS as a place to do business due to its commitment and experience to elevate machining processes to new levels of excellence. We can say that IMTS is positioned to offer the most expansive range of innovative products related to manufacturing.
At IMTS the visitor can more easily compare capabilities, features, price and service for the technology being sought. The show certainly helps manufacturing professionals overcome challenges and identify next steps forward. It is the ideal place to develop skills, win new business and take advantage of the upturn in manufacturing processes empowering people to stay one step ahead of a changing world.
The best way to ensure the growth of your business is by developing tools, techniques, and processes that make you better than your completion. IMTS provides your business the information and intelligence you need to overcome the manufacturing challenges of today and to produce the products for a global economy. IMTS is a display of complete solutions with a high level of technological density.
