Emerging Technology Center

Connectivity & Interoperability - "Are you Connected?"
The Emerging Technology Center (ETC) will be showcasing MTConnect this year, a new communication protocol standard for passing data between devices, equipment, and higher level applications. This will be shown in a number of ways. One is through video presentation material, another is by actually connecting exhibitors in the halls via the internet and an illustrative computer dashboard, but most excitingly, will be by hosting contestents of an international student competition that will challenge universities to demonstrate new and innovative concepts using MTConnect.

As in 2006, the ETC will continue to have university & research laboratories exhibit their new technology research and development efforts in science-based manufacturing and innovative process developments.

Innovation Center

IMTS will feature an all new Innovation Center highlighting a relevant theme brought to life through thought-provoking presentations by industry experts each day during the six-days of the show. Each day during the show at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., theater-style presentations will be offered in the Innovation Center, which will be located in the Lakeside Center (East Building).

Robot Combat

IMTS 2008 and Synergy Robotics Entertainment are proud to present an opportunity for attendees to battle bots live at the show. Introduced at IMTS 2006 this year's robot combat exhibit will showcase two new locations. At one station located in the Lakeside Center (East Building), attendees will watch as bots display their prowess on office equipment and kitchen appliances. Across the show in the second station found in the North Building, there will be chances to go head to head with a friend in the "You Drive Them" station.

PLUS, as a bonus this year, there will be a live bot on bot competition featuring bots built by manufacturing companies across the Midwest. Visit the whole show and catch both stations for all the action as we battle bots daily.

IMTSTV

Live from Chicago...IMTSTV! Daily broadcasts hosted by Emilie Barta on-site from the IMTSTV Studio keeping both exhibitors and attendees informed about the exciting events taking place throughout the show. IMTSTV will again be a part of IMTS...returning August 2008 in the West Building, Booth F-2451!
