Chevalier’s FSG Series Double-Column Fixed Beam Grinder

Chevalier customers in a wide range of industries like what they see in the FSG-4080DC series double-column fixed beam grinders. They say the grinders are easy to set-up, program and operate and exceed the most rigorous demands for rigidity, accuracy and speed. All while providing an enormous grinding area.

The user-friendly conversational programming features:

FSG Series Double Column Grinders have large-capacity table size, starting at 40" x 60", with a part load of up to 17,600 lbs.
Chevalier’s patented elevation guideways and spindle structure have four heavy-duty square slideways that provide maximum rigidity and heavy-duty grinding capacity. The spindle head on the Y-axis runs on four hardened, ground and wider guides traveling on Turcite-B anti-friction material. A worm gear reducer and servo motor coupled with a
high-accuracy ballscrew and a pneumatic counterweight balance system ensures smooth movement and prevents the head from crashing in case of a power failure.
A high-precision, cartridge-type spindle is equipped with four Class 7 (P4) angular contact ball bearings and a set of NN- type, precision-needle roller bearings.
Special grease suitable for high-speed rotation comes loaded, with no additional lubrication required. The cartridge ID is grooved to accommodate an optional oil-cooling device to minimize heat displacement.
Chevalier’s base and table design features Meehanite cast iron throughout. The table X-axis is coated with Turcite-B and travels on the hardened and grounded double “V” base guideway for years of smooth, stick-slip-free precision movement. A hydraulic cylinder drives the table, providing very smooth movement even under heavy loads. Chevalier’s customized and computerized controls allow the machine to precisely execute concave and convex grinding.

FVL-1250VTC+C Vertical Turning Center
Chevalier’s FVL Series Adds Additional Flexible Machining Capabilities To Make More Complex Workpieces With One Machine
The series is perfect for heavy-duty turning, milling, boring, grinding, drilling and thread-cutting applications. The Y model is designed for key-slot milling of large-sized and/or heavy workpieces. And with the optional live tooling function, the series offers additional flexible machining capabilities to make more complex workpieces with one machine.
The highly rigid column structure offers heavy duty box type design of the thick body which increases the machine's rigidity and vibration dampening characteristics, enabling the machine to perform deeper cuts, achieve higher metal removal rates and reduce tool wear. The one-piece column and bed is made of high-grade Meehanite® casting that provides better damping character for heavy cutting capabilities.
The wide square ways with hand-scraped sliding way surfaces distributes the load evenly. The tapered gib sliding surfaces are coated with anti-friction material for consistent accuracy and smooth movement.
Rotary Table Spindle Design - The rotary table is driven by a powerful spindle motor with a gearbox for low speed high torque machining and higher speed for fine finishing.
C-Axis Design - The C-axis runs with an independent servo motor control with a hydraulic braking system and can turn at 3.33rpm while providing minimum 0.001-degree C-axis indexing. Added to the regular spindle, the CF-axis can perform multiple tasks such as milling, tapping, drilling and profile grinding.
Cross Roller Bearing - The rotary table runs with heavy duty cross roller cylindrical bearings, ensuring stable and powerful cutting even when interruptive cutting on heavy and large diameter workpieces. The table load is up to 12,000kgs(26,400lbs) on FVL-2000VTC+C series.
Machine Base - A very rigid machine structure reduces the cutting induced vibration associated with machining hard metals like titanium.
Capacity: The maximum swing and cutting diameter for the FVL-1250VTC+C is 63" with a maximum turning height up to 47.2". The maximum workpiece weight is 17,631 lbs.
Power: The enormous 60HP FANUC digital spindle motor, with a two-speed gearbox, can generate up to 11,461NM of torque in lower 37rpm.
Live Tooling: The optional live tooling model provides a powerful milling capability along with a standard FANUC 25HP spindle motor that includes a two-speed gearbox, providing up to 478NM torque. It can easily handle up to M30 tap or 50mm drill with tough material. The full C-axis function can be programmed in minimum 0.001 degree indexing.
Control: The FANUC Oi-MD’s 8.4" LCD display is a standard control feature. Working with the Chevalier multi-function touch screen and Chevalier’s human interface software, an operator can easily control the machine with simple procedures and increase productivity.

FBB-110L Horizontal Boring and Milling Machine
Chevalier’s FBB series sets the benchmark for rigidity, reliability and results.
The FBB-110L series, aT-type boring mill, expertly handles heavy-duty, high-precision machining with a moving column on the Z-axis for larger machining capabilities.
The extra-rigid design of the main machine body and column ensure outstanding structural stability. The one-piece machine base includes large guide ways on the X- and Z-axes for full table support with no overhang issues.
CAPACITY: The machine’s table size is 63" x 56.7" with a table load up to 22,000 lbs. The XYZ 118.1" x 82.7" x 59". W travel is 19.7". This FBB model’s net weight is 57,200 lbs., with a floor space of 335" x 310" x 162". The optional double arm type ATC accepts tool weight of up to 55 lbs. The machine has a standard chain type 60-tool magazine available.
STRUCTURE: The series features a one-piece Meehanite cast iron base with heavy-duty large box ways on X-, Y-, and Z-axes and is coated with anti-friction material for consistent accuracy and smooth movement. The high-quality C3 grade ball screws are used on all axes for high precision positioning.
SPINDLE: The 35HP, 50-taper, large-diameter, cartridge-type, air-purged spindle runs with 2-speed gear head stock that generates a maximum of 1500NM to overcome most tough-material cutting conditions. Spiral-type spindle cooling system provides constant, all-around lubrication, preventing thermal deformation and substantially prolonging the life of the spindle, bearings and gears. The spindle can be extended (W-axis) for deep-hole boring with high-rigidity and superior machining accuracy.
TABLE: The table features a full C-axis contouring with 0.001-degree minimum intervals. It also has a hydraulic break disk plus a locking pin every 90 degrees, designed for maximum stability. The rotary table is driven by an AC servo motor with a worm shaft and gear that provides high torque for heavy work pieces. The angular scale is built in the table to assure the accuracy of ± 15 arc-second.
ACCESSORIES: All three axes are equipped with standard scales to assure accuracy. The spindle oil cooler that controls the various temperature changes in the spindle during the machining of consistently accurate work pieces is standard equipment, along with the lubrication system. The standard lift-up chip conveyor and two internal chips augers are also all standard equipment.
CONTROL: The FANUC 0i-MD control has the latest technology with a powerful control feature with Ethernet connection and easy-access. A front memory card slot; and a huge data-server memory capacity are among the many standard features.
