New FX Linear Tool and Cutter Grinders Unveiled at IMTS
The all-new series of three ANCA FX Linear machines, introduced to the world at IMTS 2014, show an appealing design backed by new motion and control technologies, and promise users higher levels of grinding accuracy and performance, and less required maintenance in a smaller foot print. Further, no other machine tool, particularly cutter grinders, utilize the new ANCA-design tubular shaft linear motors built into the ANCA FX Series grinders.
The space-saving range is designed for higher productivity, lower operating cost, and even greater tool and cutter quality.
Further, a new generation of software offers greater power and ease-of-use. The FX machine range is powered by a new generation of software RN33 and uses a new generation of automation technology designed and developed by subsidiary ANCA Motion. These new developments include the LinX linear motors as well the new Touch pad user interface, high performance CNC, remote pendant, AMD5x servo drives and IO box, all of which use the latest Ethercat communication technology.
The FX Linear machine range covers a broad industry spectrum from light manufacture, regrinding and full production. Its best performance and productivity range is for tools up to diameter 12mm (1/2”). It offers grinding capabilities for tools up to diameter 200mm. Maximum wheel diameter is 8”. The FX series consists of three machine levels. FX3 Linear, FX5 Linear, and FX7 Linear.
Erosion and grinding in one high-accuracy toolmaking machine
The EDGe, with a double-ended HSK wheel spindle, has the flexibility to erode PCD (polycrystalline diamond) tools and grind carbide and HSS tools on the same machine. The versatile machine is suitable for a wide variety of tools and applications and offers manufacturers a new benchmark for cycle time and surface finish in PCD tool production.
New materials, such as carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) and other composites in aerospace, automotive and other industries have motivated the demand for tools of super-hard materials, such as PCD.
The ability to manufacture a variety of tools (up to 220 mm or 8.66” in diameter and up to 20 kg or 44 lbs in weight) makes the EDGe ideal for customers looking to reduce the risk associated with moving into the growing PCD-side of the business.
Cellular tool manufacturing: unmatched flexibility, productivity and precision
The ANCA TXcell combines the TX7+ universal grinding and the Fanuc M-20iA robot loader to provide the industry's most flexible and productive cell for grinding a wide variety of rotary cutting tools as well as medica and aeropsace components.
The TXcell robot handles tool loading as well as automatic change of up to 24 wheel packs (some up to 300 mm) with their coolant manifolds.
Ancillary processing operations (such as tool polishing, laser etching, etc.) can also be performed by the robot cell as part grinding continues inside the machine.
Offered in a compact format with 2 workpiece/tool pallets, it can be expanded to up to 4.
