A pictorial review of IMTS 2006. Take a closer look at what you saw or missed.
Technology
As it has always been, IMTS was the showcase for unveiling many exhibitor's best and latest products. At IMTS, buyers and sellers of machine tool and metalworking technologies can come together and discuss production challenges and solutions. If manufacturing technology and solutions are what you are looking for, IMTS is THE place to find it!
Size & Scale
IMTS 2006 is among the largest industrial expositions in the world and the largest of its type in the Americas. What does that really mean? It means over 1.16 million square feet of exhibits, over 60 million pounds of equipment and display, thirty days to move-in, open the show and move it out, and up to 850 truck loads of equipment unloaded on an average move-in day.
Emerging Technology Center
As they entered the North Building, Hall B, thousands of visitors were introduced to the Emerging Technology Center at IMTS. The ETC, co-sponsored by The Ex One Company, showcased thinking from some of the most innovative researchers nationwide of manufacturing-specific technologies, new initiatives and capabilities in the next three to five years, and what the industry needs to do now to get there.
Audience
Over 91,000 visitors from 40 countries visited Chicago during IMTS. The IMTS audience has incredible buying power - in fact over 90% of visitors indicated that they had involvement in purchasing decisions at their company. Over the last several IMTS shows, an average of over 750 million dollars worth of equipment was purchased...right at the show!
Education
Spending time at IMTS is like getting an M.B.A. in Manufacturing Technology - from process to product! It is more important now, than ever, that manufacturing professionals receive the critical information and industry knowledge they need to advance their skills and improve productivity. This critical knowledge can be obtained at IMTS - an Industry-leading event put together by manufacturers for manufacturers.

IMTSTV
Live from Chicago...IMTSTV! Daily broadcasts hosted by Emilie Barta were broadcast on-site from the IMTSTV Studio keeping both exhibitors and attendees informed about the exciting events that were taking place throughout the show.
BattleBotsIQ
A lot of robot combat has been waged in BattleBots short history. Since 1999 hundreds of battles have been fought, parts have been broken and repaired, champions have been crowned, and a great many people have enjoyed themselves competing in, and observing this incredible sport.
BattleBotsIQ is more than just entertainment. They showed a solution for creating the future workforce in manufacturing. As word of the attraction spread throughout the show, spectators often overflowed the bleachers to see the robots face off or even handle the robot controls themselves!
Artsy
IMTS offers the opportunity for photographers to experiment with their Photojournalistic style. Capturing these museum quality machines in motion provides a way to visually communicate the displays of the newest, latest and greatest. Enjoy this fine presentation of photo illustrations captured in a creative and exciting way to tell the story of this magnificent event.
Move-In
No small feat.
No small feat. IMTS holds the record for putting together, displaying and tearing down the world's largest operating factory in just over 4 weeks. Imagine a typical move-in day at IMTS. Unloading an average of 850 truck-loads of machinery and display per day, weighing an average of 6.5 million pounds onto 4 exhibit hall levels. In and of itself, just imagine the amount of labor, money, time, planning, travel, electricity, carpeting, food, trash, signage, decoration, security. It is a massive undertaking no matter how you look at it.
