I’ve been at the AMRC Advanced Structural Testing Centre this week where I helped design and machine a jig for a tensile ‘T’ test which includes pulling apart two materials by clamping onto an extruding piece of the said material.

This was a very fulfilling moment since it is the first major piece of work I have been a part of outside of my training. It involved machining down the material to size with a face mill then drilling some holes through which bolts will go into in order to clamp the test piece into the jig. The skills I have learned so far at the AMRC Training Centre really helped me make light work of this task.
