I have spent this last week furthering my understanding of CNC lathes. I feel I have built on my programming skills from CNC milling quickly and I can now program designs that include radii and chamfers.

I have also learned how to set the workpiece in the machine and program its offsets. It is a familiar process because it is very similar to how you would prepare to work on a manual lathe.

I also had the opportunity to work with nylon, which I found somewhat frustrating because of its tendency to become long, stringy pieces as it is cut which then tangle round the work and damage the finish. I managed to overcome this by leaving two final finishing cuts rather than one.
