Autonomous Charging Framework for Drones

Category: Guest Appearance

Date(s): 09/12/2018, 10:00 AM - 09/12/2018, 04:00 PM

See a prototype unit that Illinois Institute of Technology students created to provide portable field battery recharging capabilities for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and large-scale drone fleets. Students in the Industrial Technology and Management and Information Technology and Management programs worked with School of Applied Technology Industry Professor Jeremy Hajek to make the model at MHub, Chicago’s first innovation center focused on physical product development and manufacturing.  Watch as they explain how they’re modifying the electronics of off-the-shelf UAVS to allow conductive charging to commence upon landing.

Using Augmented Reality to Turn 2D Machine Modeling into Immersive 3D Holograms

Category: Guest Appearance

Date(s): 09/10/2018, 10:00 AM - 09/10/2018, 04:00 PM

Watch as Illinois Tech School of Applied Technology Industry Professor, Jeremy Hajek, and students in the Illinois Institute of Technology Industrial Technology and Management program demonstrate a class project in which they are able to render standard AutoCAD and SolidWorks files as an interactive hologram.  Their concept allows for interactive assembly, instruction, and information gathering that makes machine schematics come to life. They will also show booth visitors how voice control and internet connectivity can be integrated for real-time data display.
