Avoid Hefty Fines! Know Freight Truck Size Restrictions

This is a final reminder of the construction conditions affecting IMTS 2016. Please note that both the inbound and outbound ramps leading from I-55 to Lake Shore Drive in both directions are under construction and are down to one lane apiece.

The bridges are only a single lane, 11’ wide and run on a curve. So if your truck is over nine feet wide and overall length is greater than 75 feet you need to contact GES.

Due to these conditions any oversize load, especially those that are over width, MUST be routed to the external marshalling yard in Hodgkin’s, Ill. The address for this lot is:

GES
6800 Santa Fe Dr.
Hodgkins, IL 60525

There are signs along the highway warning trucks of the size of these bridges.

There will be a scale and staff on site to process these loads and when ready direct them on to McCormick Place. AGAIN it is imperative that these oversize loads DO NOT get routed through these ramps. Please go IMTS.com under the Education portion and look at the webinars on the Freight and Marshalling Yard.

IF a trucker does not pay attention and gets stuck on a bridge it can cost up to $25,000 to remove them from the bridge as well as the driver getting ticketed.

Thank you for your attention and as always any further questions can be directed to the IMTS Call Center in Chicago, 630-671-7960 or 866-280-7765.
