Knowledge may be power, as philosopher Francis Bacon famously wrote, but without an action plan, knowledge lacks potential. As AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology’s new executive editor, Robert Schoenberger will lead a renewed effort to connect members with AMT’s extensive resources and deliver actionable, inspiring content that supports manufacturers across the industry. AMT, which owns and operates IMTS – The International Manufacturing Technology Show, is dedicated to helping its members and the larger industry turn knowledge into potential through its research, education, technology, advocacy programs, expertise, and products. In his new role, Schoenberger will focus on making AMT’s world-class resources more accessible to a larger audience. He aims to help members find and apply AMT’s industry data, expand technical content to directly address shop floor challenges, and continue telling the stories of the people driving innovation and growth in manufacturing. With 30 years of editorial experience ranging from automotive journalism to expanding editorial products and calendars at Endeavor Business Media, Schoenberger is focused on building a content strategy that directly responds to the needs of members and their customers. In the near term, he plans to increase podcast production and engagement, and connect directly with members and industry leaders to understand what information is most useful to them. “I am focused on building connections – with members, IMTS exhibitors, and IMTS visitors. I want to expand and deepen the relationships initiated at IMTS, fortifying those bonds during the 724 days that we aren’t all physically together in Chicago,” Schoenberger explains. “That happens when we deliver articles, videos, research, and podcasts that increase knowledge, inspire action, and expand potential in the manufacturing industry. I want to turn the industry knowledge we have in-house into business potential for our members.” “We are thrilled to have Robert Schoenberger join us at AMT,” said AMT President Doug Woods. “From his time at Today’s Motor Vehicles to his work as editor-in-chief of IndustryWeek, Robert has demonstrated an ability to align editorial efforts with larger industry priorities. He understands the people and the power of manufacturing, and he knows what our various audiences need: practical information that will help them grow.” Please join us in giving Robert Schoenberger a warm welcome to AMT and IMTS. You can reach him anytime at rschoenberger@amtonline.org. He welcomes any and all ideas about the content you need to succeed. You can also find him on the show floor at IMTS from Sept. 14-19, 2026.
