REGENT Viceroy Seaglider prototype (Image courtesy of REGENT.)REGENT Craft has completed the world's first Seaglider Manufacturing Facility as the company prepares to expand production of its all-electric seaglider vessels. A 255,000-square-foot production center in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, the facility will manufacture the company's wing-in-ground-effect seagliders and includes dedicated areas for structural assembly, wing and hydrofoil integration, battery installation, systems testing, and final inspection. According to REGENT, metrology and quality checkpoints are integrated throughout the manufacturing process to support production and certification. REGENT's seagliders operate in three modes. They begin by floating on the water, transition onto hydrofoils to reduce drag, and then fly just above the water within one wingspan of the surface. The company describes the seaglider as a high-speed, zero-emission vehicle designed for coastal transportation. As REGENT prepares for commercial production, the company is using Siemens Digital Industries Software's (IMTS booth #133249) Siemens Xcelerator portfolio to support product development and manufacturing.
