Since its debut at IMTS 2014, the Miles for Manufacturing (M4M) 5K has been run at meetings around the country and has raised more than $30,000 to assist middle school, high school and technical college programs that promote careers in manufacturing.
Proceeds from the Miles For Manufacturing 5k run at IMTS 2016 will provide donations in the form of cash or equipment to the following schools and community-based STEM organizations:
- Chicago Public Library Foundation for its YouMedia a 21st century teen learning space filled with digital media technology.
- Project SYNCERE, a Chicago-based community organization supporting youth’s needs with core engineering research experiments designed to prepare the minds and create pathways for underserved and underrepresented student to pursue STEM for the launch of their EngineerU program.
- Chicago Public Schools (CPS) STEM Initiative:
George Leland Elementary School
Genevieve Melody Elementary School
Langston Hughes Elementary School
Daniel S Wentworth Elementary School
