IMTS Industrial AI Conference
Date: Wednesday, 9/16
Time: 10:00am - 4:00pm
Location: South Building, Room S401
A one-day, practitioner-focused program delivering reality-based AI for the factory floor. Designed for manufacturers seeking implementable outcomes, the conference opens with a clear, jargon-free framework that de-bundles AI (predictive maintenance, quality, edge vs. cloud, small models vs. LLMs) and shows how to go from problems to purpose to process.
Attendees will learn:
- A step-by-step methodology to identify high-value opportunities, assess data readiness, and choose between quick-ROI and capability-building projects
- How to leverage existing infrastructure to start fast without major new spend
- What “machine-learning-ready” data looks like for manufacturing
The day features sector-specific case studies (metalworking, semiconductor/electronics, robotics) and a roundtable on implementation trade-offs. Emphasis is on domain-centric and data-centric approaches, edge-first solutions, and measurable impact on uptime, quality, cost, and throughput.
Programming developed in collaboration with Dr. Jay Lee and the UMD Center for Industrial AI, with additional deep-dive hands-on workshops (e.g., NVIDIA/Microsoft) offered on separate days. Target audience: plant leaders, operations, quality, maintenance, engineering, and digital/IT teams.
