U.S. Visitor Visa Information

The following information should help assist you in your travel planning to the IMTS show. If you are an international visitor or exhibitor at IMTS, please be aware that there is a significant backlog of U.S. Visitor Visa interviews at most Embassies and Consulates around the world. This will lengthen the time it takes to process your visa application. Make sure you begin your visa application early and well in advance of your travel dates. It could take as long as three to four months to get your visa.

Complete information can be found on the U.S. Department of State Visitor Visa Website

Letter of Invitation

From the U.S. Department of State – Bureau of Consular Affairs:

Note: Visa applicants must qualify on the basis of the applicant's residence and ties abroad, rather than assurances from U.S. family and friends. A letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support is not needed to apply for a visitor visa. If you choose to bring a letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support to your interview, please remember it is not one of the factors used in determining whether to issue or deny the visa.”

OBIM – Biometrics

The Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM), formerly US-VISIT, applies to all visitors holding non-immigrant visas, regardless of country or origin. Visitors are photographed and fingerprinted upon arrival. The quick and efficient processes take a few seconds in most cases. Goals of the program are to enhance the security of citizens and visitors and facilitate legitimate travel and trade.
