Meet Mia, IMTS Team Member

Category: IMTS Jun 24, 2020

Friendly, flexible, and organized, Mia Lenotti likens herself to an orchestra conductor as she juggles an abundance of tasks and sets the pace to keep projects moving forward. Within months, our youngest member of the IMTS team has made herself indispensable. Find out her secret to success.

As the Exhibitions Operations Coordinator, Mia ensures that the team is successful in a timely manner. She is a 2019 graduate of George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., where she majored in Tourism and Events Management. Her studies required an industry internship so during her last semester she interned with the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), which hosts a show almost as large as IMTS.

“Mia is hard working, diligent, and efficient,” says Michelle Edmonson, Senior Director – Exhibitions Operations & Marketing for AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology. “She processes and analyzes information quickly, speaks up to clarify tasks, and manages a high volume of assignments with ease, grace, and humor. She plays a crucial role to our team’s effectiveness.”

“Mia is so efficient. Half the time she’s completed a task before I even ask her about it,” says Adam Gambrel, AMT Exhibitions Content Manager – Digital.  “It’s as if she’s reading my mind.”

“Mia always has a smile on her face. She’s always willing to do whatever it takes to get the project completed,” says Bonnie Gurney, AMT Senior Director – Strategic Partnerships. “She’s also not afraid to track you down and get you to do something.”

Mia’s Secret
We aren’t sure if Michelle, Bonnie, and Adam know Mia’s key to effectiveness. “I am always thinking, ‘What can I do to make his or her job easier?’ I heard this advice at an industry training event," says Mia. "It helps me see how small tasks fit into the bigger picture and identify the tasks that I can do to take it to the next level.”

What does Mia’s day look like?
She handles department purchases, organizes the invoices, schedules meetings, creates agendas, takes and distributes notes, tracks projects, moves articles along the editorial process, finds photos for articles, trains interns on department databases, resolves logistics issues, and so much more.

One may think that a coordinator job is easy. But when you take into consideration the volume of assignments that she is responsible for, along with the seven people she supports, then you can appreciate how crucial she is to the team and the art of coordination.

“We couldn’t be happier having Mia on our team,” says Peter Eelman, AMT Vice President & CXO. “Like an orchestra conductor, her personality contributes greatly to the team’s accomplishments, positive work environment, and plays an important role in helping our team run smoothly.”

Beyond IMTS
Outside of IMTS, Mia enjoys spending time with friends and family, trying new restaurants, and staying abreast of the local vibrant concert scene. She saw Billie Eilish in November 2018 and Julia Michaels in October 2019 before they were household names.

Mia loves to put her event expertise to work planning parties to celebrate birthdays, graduations, and other commemorative events for her friends and family. Mia is a fan of crime podcasts including Serial, Crime Junkie, and Wondery’s Dr. Death. She also listens to StoryCorps, which features everyday Americans talking about life’s ordinary and significant events.
