Get going and support students with every move!
This year, to ensure funds reach more programs that prepare young people for careers in manufacturing, IMTS is sponsoring a six-month virtual Miles For Manufacturing (M4M) event. Launched in October, M4M continues through March 2021. Register here.
Manufacturing companies, schools, families, and friends from across the country are invited to join the effort in their community. To participate, you can walk, run, roll, row, ski, ice skate, sled, snowboard, dance, hike, or bike on treadmills, trails, roadways, or slopes. All participants will receive an M4M cotton T-shirt and are encouraged to post photos, videos, and mapped routes. (Custom bike jerseys are available for purchase.)
M4M assists community-based organizations that champion under-represented, under-served students who participate in STEM and robotics programs in schools, in addition to directly funding STEM and FIRST™ robotics programs. The M4M effort is designed to encourage students to embark on an education and career pathway toward manufacturing.
“This year, more than ever, we wanted to ensure that students could continue to explore their passions in STEM and robotics, especially as students were learning from home, making teamwork more challenging,” says Greg Jones, Vice President- Smartforce Development, AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology, which owns and operates IMTS. Jones is charged with selecting organizations and schools that qualify for funding from M4M.
