AM is All-in at IMTS 2022 – The Additive Manufacturing Destination
Category: IMTS 2022 • By: Peter Eelman, VP of Exhibitions and CXO, AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology • Nov 23, 2021
Just as additive manufacturing (AM) continues to expand into the manufacturing industry, the presence of AM companies, conferences, and events – including a new partnership with Formnext – continues to proliferate at IMTS 2022 – The International Manufacturing Technology Show, taking place September 12-17 in Chicago, Ill.
The AM Pavilion at IMTS 2022 is growing with the addition of new exhibitors. To date, more than 55 AM companies, ranging from established international companies such as EOS, 3D Systems, Stratasys, HP Inc., Velo3D, SLM Solutions, Desktop Metal, and ExOne, to smaller enterprises like Inkbit, Formalloy, Titan Robotics, Xact Metal, and Essentium, are slated to exhibit in the AM Pavilion at IMTS 2022. New in the AM Pavilion: AM4U Area by Formnext
New for 2022, the AM Pavilion will encompass the AM4U Area, presented by Formnext. It is a multi-use zone on the show floor offering industry expert talks and seminars for the adoption of industrial AM as well as entrepreneurship and business models for start-ups. AM4U will be the first presence of a new partnership recently announced by AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology (the owner and operator of IMTS), Gardner Business Media (GBM), and Mesago Messe Frankfurt, (the organizers of Formnext, Europe’s largest AM show), and Messe Frankfurt North America. The partnership creates Formnext USA Chicago to launch April 8-10, 2025, and serve as the event in the United States dedicated to all aspects of industrial AM.
AM – An Intrinsic Presence at IMTS 2022
Did you know you can also find AM throughout all the Pavilions of the seven-day show? As manufacturing equipment builders and software developers integrate AM solutions, you’ll also see AM throughout the show including the Metal Removal, Quality Assurance, CAD-CAM, and other Technology Pavilions.
The pace at which AM technologies accelerate makes IMTS 2022 a not-to-miss event. You’ll find AM solutions for production and high-volume part applications, tooling, workholding, and fixturing that improve performance, lower lifecycle costs, and help reshore production. You’ll also be able to meet people pushing the boundaries of AM, including multiple technologies and components being developed for NASA. AM Conference at IMTS 2022
GBM, a leading media and events producer in North America focused entirely on durable goods manufacturing, will again host the AM Conference at IMTS 2022. As the publisher of Additive Manufacturing magazine and organizer of a major midwestern AM show, GBM brings together a wide spectrum of AM experts in AM materials, processes, and applications across a range of industry sectors. The AM Pavilion and AM Conference are located across the main concourse from each other in the West Building of McCormick Place.

About the Author
Peter Eelman’s business career has always been centered around the IMTS Show. Entering the manufacturing technology industry in 1980 with the Wiedemann Division of Warner & Swasey, one of his first assignments was the production of the 1980 IMTS Show. After 16 years on the exhibitor side of IMTS, he joined AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology and has been managing IMTS ever since.
During his tenure, IMTS has continued to be among the top three domestic events in the United States, as ranked by several industry measures, and he has overseen the introduction of technology-based advancements such as IMTS.com, IMTSTV, the e-kit operations manual and the introduction of the fixed-price Custom Block Package System, which has been hailed as the model for cost containment in show operations.
Peter has served on numerous advisory boards and committees, most notably the Chicago Labor Management Council, the Choose Chicago Advisory Council and the Friends of McCormick Place, a group involved in the building of the current complex.
In addition to IMTS, Peter is responsible for AMT's international trade shows, which have included major events in China, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, and throughout Europe.
