A Peek Into the Future
In this edition of IMTSTV, Sandy Munro, CEO of Munro & Associates, gives listeners a peek into the future of the manufacturing industry. Munro talks about how there are innovations right in front of us that we might not even see. He says, “There are many, many companies that have the innovative ideas sitting in front of them, they just don’t choose to pick them up.”
So how can innovators get over this hump? Munro says good leadership is the answer, and he reminds us that there are two pertinent ways in doing so. He says, “Good leadership is built of being accepting and open to new ideas, and also being aware that things change.” A good leader will recognize a shift or a change in their company and, while it may not be an easy change, they will do it anyway, for the benefit of the company as a whole.

As for specific innovations, Munro touches on the BMW i3 and the ramifications it has on the manufacturing world. He mentions a few products that he would like to see being used in different ways with additive manufacturing. Some of these products consist of carbon fiber, covetic aluminum, and copper. Sandy Munro is excited about the way things are going with material science, particularly with its combination involving manufacturing. Watch the video to learn more!
