As one of the biggest manufacturing shows in the world, Jody Tuckwell, Production Manager at AW Fraser in Christchurch, New Zealand, believes IMTS is a must-attend event. AW Fraser produces and supplies cast bronze alloys, hollow and solid brass extrusions and precision machined components from a variety of alloys, including CuSn12Ni and LG2 Bronze, aluminium bronze and brass, among many others. Tuckwell, particularly interested in quality control systems, said, “There are plenty of things out there that we didn’t even know existed until we came to Chicago to see the show.”

Additional inspiration comes from advancements in additive manufacturing and 5-axis machining. “The steps made with additive manufacturing have been amazing,” says Tuckwell.

Tuckwell knows he won’t find this caliber and range of technology in New Zealand and believes the IMTS show is a great investment. “Basically, coming from New Zealand, we don’t have anything like that [IMTS] there,” says Tuckwell. “You’ve got to come here to see all the new technology, to meet the people that are making the bits. This is the place to be.”

Tuckwell may have traveled across the world to visit his third IMTS show, but says, “I’ll be back again, I’m sure.”
