Today’s Technology Center (TTC) never fails to give visitors exciting new products in manufacturing technology. And this year, the TTC will show off their items from a new location! Presented by GIE Media, the TTC will be featured right next to AMT’s Emerging Technology Center, in the North Building, Level 3, booth # 236900.

The TTC highlights how advances in manufacturing help consumer products boost safety, improve fuel efficiency, and increase applications. Visitors will be able to get a close look at the 2018 Jeep Wrangler, the 2019 Ram 1500, a full-size fuselage mockup of the ONE Aviation’s Eclipse 550 Very Light Jet, as well as state-of-the-art medical devices and equipment. Each of these products provides examples of how the newest manufacturing technology is being applied.

2018 Jeep Wrangler

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler contains cutting-edge safety and lightweighting technologies. The steel frame is made mostly from ultra-high-strength alloys, and the door, rear gate, and hood panels are aluminum. The lower vehicle weight improves fuel economy without sacrificing the vehicle's ability to dominate off-road.

Fiat Chrysler’s pickup is a study in lightweighting. Massive weight cuts from the steel frame allow the truck to tow and haul more while still improving fuel economy. The vehicle also integrates safety systems into its design including a hidden camera, LiDAR, and other systems--keeping sensors safe from road conditions.

IMTS 2018 visitors will be able to sit in a full-size fuselage mockup of ONE Aviation’s Eclipse 500 Very Light Jet, a five-passenger, twin-engine personal jet that can travel up to 430 mph and at altitudes up to 41,000 feet. An “X-ray view” of systems below the aircraft’s skin is exposed on its right side while the aircraft’s delivery paint scheme is only on its left side.

Medical Devices

Visitors will have the opportunity to look at medical devices, such as knee, hip, and shoulder implants, as well as the materials, tools, and products that are used to manufacture them, demonstrating the capabilities of the latest precision technology in the medical industry.
