Meet Martha, IMTS Team Member
Category: AMT • Jan 8, 2020
Effervescent, witty, and thoughtful, Martha Sproehnle makes you instantly feel energized, appreciated, and comfortable. Even with more than 25 years of experience working on trade shows and conferences around the United States, Martha still feels as excited as a kid on Christmas morning when a show opens.
“It’s as if you’ve brought a small city to life. It’s wonderful to see everyone working together to build the booths, bring in the equipment, lay the fresh carpet, and hang the signs,” says Martha, AMT Senior Manager of Exhibitions Operations. “The opening is a huge moment of pride knowing you played a role.”
Martha coordinates an inordinate amount of details, including all the directional signage and banners to help IMTS visitors navigate the more than 1.4 million square feet of floor space. “IMTS is enormous. I hope I make it easier for our visitors to walk from one building to another and to find what they’re looking for.”
Martha also handles all sponsorship fulfillment, which means she handles exhibitor requests to advertise and promote themselves at IMTS. When you see exhibitor graphics on charging stations, kiosks, or digital screens, you can thank Martha.
“Martha is extremely organized, a whiz with spreadsheets, and is never ruffled even by the biggest challenges,” says Michelle Edmonson, AMT Senior Director – Exhibitions Operations and Marketing. “She has a calming demeanor and evaluates the options. I know I can trust her to problem-solve and help exhibitors in the best way possible. And, her sense of humor adds to the joy we all feel when working with her.”
“I knew we needed Martha on our team, when I saw the sparkle in her eyes as she described how she feels when a show opens and reeled off every detail of putting a show together,” says Peter Eelman, AMT Vice President – Exhibitions & CXO. “Martha is a seasoned show producer. She brings a passion for executing events and a high level of organization.”
The Hostess with the Mostest
Outside of IMTS, Martha loves to spend time with her family and friends while entertaining or going on weekend outdoor excursions with her husband and their preteen daughter. They enjoy hosting impromptu gatherings at their home where they like to try new recipes—a frequent occurrence as they live in a close-knit community. Martha is active in her daughter’s PTA and served as its Vice President of Events, planning the annual rival volleyball game where teachers from opposing schools play each other. As her daughter becomes more involved in swimming, soccer, and gymnastics, Martha takes pride in her daughter’s efforts to plan her own schedule for practices, games, and down time.
