Care and Feeding for Entrepreneurs

During a recent interview with Steve Miller, marketing consultant and best-selling author John Jantsch explained that one of the biggest surprises for him while researching his new book—The Self-Reliant Entrepreneur—was how relevant the historic passages were to the problems our country faces today.

Finding your purpose. Trusting yourself. Embracing change. These simple actions are instrumental to success as an entrepreneur.

Marketing Consultant and Best-Selling Author John Jantsch provides short and engaging daily meditations designed to challenge and motivate entrepreneurs in his new book, The Self-Reliant Entrepreneur: 366 Daily Meditations to Feed Your Soul and Grow Your Business.

The Self-Reliant Entrepreneur is organized as a daily devotional, with entries for every day of the year (including Leap Year). The book’s unique approach starts with quotes from 19th century transcendentalist authors, such as Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Louisa May Alcott, and Willa Cather.

Following the quotes, Jantsch offers his interpretation of the passage and applies his own experience as an entrepreneur and marketing expert for more than 30 years. Each section ends with a challenge question that encourages busy professionals to look beyond the daily “to-do” list and ponder the big picture.

During a recent interview with Steve Miller, Jantsch explained that one of the biggest surprises for him while researching the book was how relevant the historic passages were to the problems our country faces today.

Jantsch quickly drew connections between the rebellious, counterculture reasoning of the transcendentalists and today’s out-of-the box thinkers and entrepreneurs.  In fact, he feels that entrepreneurs could be instrumental to bridging our growing political and cultural divides.

“Entrepreneurs are the do-gooders of the world in a lot of cases,” Jantsch told Miller.  “They are the ones out trying to solve wrongs, bring new things to life, and employ people. A lot more self-reliant entrepreneurs might actually be one of the ways to bring us back to a unified us.”

Jantsch’s unique new work sets out to inspire the creative, driven entrepreneurs who dare to do something different.  That could be good for us all.
