Week Ending August 6

This week I helped calibrate a pair of load cells that are needed for an upcoming job. A load cell is an electro-mechanical device that measures force, in this instance tension or compression.
The process involves applying load through the machine in increments and checking if the reading from the load cell matches each increment of increased tension.
The machine operates on what is called a closed loop system. The load is measured using the load cells which automatically directs the machine. The down side to this is that it can cause the machine to overcompensate.
