This week, I’ve been machining more parts for our Shimazdu testing machine. It now fits onto the part I made last week, to allow it to press downwards with a wide but thin loading area.

This week, I was asked to machine a fitting for a Shimazdu tensile testing machine. I had to make it out of high tensile strength, 42mm steel bolts so it was very difficult to cut and created a lot of heat.

This week, I have received a delivery of material to aid me in building my Stirling engine. There were lots of steel parts that were 2mm and 3mm in diameters, such as pins and the crankshaft.

This week, I’ve had some components cut out on our laser cutter for my Stirling engine. These were the crank webs and driving rods.

This week, whilst working on my Stirling engine, I had to machine a circular grove. This cannot be done with a typical grooving tool because as the lathe turns the work it would rub on the bottom of the tool.
